Women Stage the World

Join us for Women Stage the World on Saturday, June 17th,
as we advocate for gender parity in the Theatre!

A suffragist-inspired March will wind its way through the Broadway Theatre District, educating theatre goers and passers-by about the continuing lack of parity for women in employment opportunities and wages in the commercial theatre industry.

March participants will gather at Shubert Alley starting at 11:30 AM for a parade kick-off at NOON, wrapping up at about 2pm.

The event is FREE and LPTW invites all theatre women and allies to join us as we increase awareness, lift our voices, and advocate .for more opportunities for women in theatre.

All participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite historical theatre woman or all in white. Women Stage the World sashes and signs will be provided, as supplies last.

In Memoriam: Mari Lyn Henry

Mari Lyn Henry, actor and author, acting coach and casting director, teacher, theater historian, and long-time member of the League of Professional Theatre Women, passed away June 24 in New York City after a long illness. She was 81 years old.

In 2019, the League of Professional Theatre Women presented Ms. Henry with the League's Special Theatre Woman Award.

The League and its members will miss Mari Lyn Henry deeply, and like hundreds of other women in the performing arts, we will continue to benefit from her insightful writing and teaching for years to come.

A memorial celebrating Ms. Henry’s life and career will take place November 6, 2023.
